A Labor of Love in the Heart of Eagle: A One-of-a-Kind Downtown Residence
And it is in the heart of a town like this – Eagle, Idaho – where a special story is unfolding along historic State Street.
Longtime residents and local business owners, Meg and Steve Glasgow, are introducing a boutique mixed-use building in the heart of Downtown Eagle, featuring just two exclusive luxury residences above a thoughtfully curated restaurant. For the Glasgows, this project has been a labor of love, born from a commitment to honoring this place they call home.
Together, their vision for this project was clear from the beginning: give people a place to gather & connect, while creating something that feels like it has always belonged.
“This matters to us,” they often say, and it is evident in their story, their words, and their work.
Meg, owner of Finer Frames, has been a cornerstone of the Eagle arts community for over 28 years. What began as a passion discovered while living in Portugal – learning the art of European framing in a small local shop – grew into a nationally recognized business. Since opening her doors in 1999, Meg has not only built a successful company but also cultivated a creative hub, championing local artists, hosting community art events, and founding the Eagle Plein Air Festival, which draws artists from across the country each year.
Steve, a respected local developer, is known as much for his heart as he is for his work. He is someone who has long advocated for thoughtful growth and preserving the character that makes Eagle feel so special.
Working alongside well-regarded engineer Walt Laflin, the Eagle Urban Renewal Agency, and the Eagle Arts Advisory Committee, the Glasgows approached the project with careful intention.
From the street, the building blends into the fabric of downtown. Authentic brick and traditional board-and-batten wood siding give it a sense of age and permanence. The structure steps back as it rises from the street, thoughtfully scaled to complement, not compete with, its surroundings. It doesn’t stand out, and that’s exactly the point.
Step inside, and the residential experience is similar in its quiet beauty, tasteful design, and subtle luxury.
One of only two residences, the featured home offers a private, elevated retreat above the energy of downtown life. A dedicated elevator opens directly into the home, where interiors are warm, refined, and quietly exceptional. Hardwood floors in a pecan-colored tone, soft neutral palettes, custom cabinetry in fawn and taupe, natural stone surfaces, and designer lighting unfold throughout the sophisticated space.
The great room centers around a sleek linear fireplace with a generous hearth designed for gathering. A chef’s kitchen showcases gourmet appliances, a statement island, and a masterful marriage of form and function. Beyond, a spacious covered patio offers areas to host, unwind, and garden. Engage with the excitement of downtown, or retreat from it entirely, taking in views of tree-lined streets and distant mountains. With enhanced sound engineering throughout, homeowners can enjoy concerts in the park just across the street, or close the doors and find complete stillness.
Every element has been carefully considered and curated. Extra-wide doorways and a private elevator allow for aging in place. A spa-inspired primary suite features heated floors and a tranquil, light-filled design. An expansive laundry room, abundant storage, and smart security features add ease to daily living. Below, a private two-car garage includes EV charging capability.
And just outside, the best of Eagle. Meet friends downstairs for fine dining, stroll across the street for a concert in the park, linger at the Saturday market, shop at boutiques or grab a quick bite at a casual spot with a neighbor. Live in the epicenter of a place with hometown heart.
The Glasgows are also exploring opportunities to further integrate the building into the community, potentially including a large-scale mural by a local artist and continued collaboration with parks and recreation, ensuring the space isn’t just a backdrop, but an active participant in Eagle’s cultural life.
This project has been years in the making. The Glasgows purchased the property in 2019, navigating uncertainty through the pandemic while continuing to invest in downtown, renovating the Finer Frames building, and thoughtfully planning what would come next. Meg notes throughout our conversation about this project and this town, that the community has done such a wonderful job of supporting her business and she feels a deep gratitude for the people of Eagle.
Her mantra, she says, is give more than you get.
It’s a mindset that has guided the Glasgows in their continued commitment to the town of Eagle, as residents, community members, business owners, and developers.
