October Happenings in Boise and Beyond 
 

October is the perfect month to get out and explore all that Boise and the Treasure Valley have to offer. From music festivals and culinary experiences to outdoor strolls and family fun, there’s something for everyone this fall. Here’s a roundup of our favorite events and experiences this month:

Dates: October 4 – 5 & 11 – 12

Details: Visit local artists' studios across the Treasure Valley, offering a unique opportunity to meet artists and view their creative spaces. 

Date: October 5, 3:00 PM

Join the 40th Annual YMCA Harrison Classic for a one-mile kids run/walk down Boise’s scenic Harrison Boulevard. This all-inclusive, family-friendly event is a great way to get active and enjoy the fall weather. 

Dates: October 4–11

Watch over 80 artists transform Southwest Idaho's landscapes, gardens, and cityscapes into beautiful works of art during this week-long outdoor painting event. The festival includes live demos, lessons, and a final exhibition. 

Date: October 4, 2:00–6:30 PM

Celebrate Oktoberfest with live music, traditional games like stein holding, axe throwing, cornhole, and more. 

Date: October 4, 11-3

Celebrate the season with fall crafts, live music, food trucks, and more at Edwards Greenhouse. This family-friendly event offers free admission and many fun activities for all ages. 

Dates: October 4 – November 2

Details: Stroll through the Scarecrow Stroll, featuring whimsical creations by local artists and schools. Enjoy live music, food trucks, and seasonal drinks amidst the golden foliage.

Date: October 11, 10-4 pm

Kick off the fall season at Harvest Fest with pumpkin decorating, kids' crafts, cornhole, live music, and delicious food at Eagle City Hall.

Details: Participate in Boise's premier marathon event, featuring a full marathon, half marathon, and 5K race options.

Dates: October 11 – 12

Details: Step back in time with medieval entertainment, jousting, and period-themed vendors at the Gabiola fields.

Dates: October 16 – 19

Details: Experience four days of world-class jazz performances across multiple venues in the scenic Sun Valley area.

Details: Savor special menus from Boise's finest dining and beverage establishments, celebrating the city's vibrant food scene.

Details: Find unique treasures, antiques, and collectibles at Expo Idaho's indoor flea market.

Experience the Tony Award®–winning musical comedy at the Velma V. Morrison Center. Hailed as “flat-out hilarious,” this show features a book by Tony winner Robert Horn and direction by Broadway legend Jack O’Brien. 

Dates: October 24 – 26

Details: Explore over 150 displays featuring home improvement ideas, remodeling tips, and design inspiration at Expo Idaho.

Dates: October 31 – November 2

Details: Gear up for the winter season with new and used ski and snowboard equipment at the annual Ski Swap event.
