Join Us For A Perfect Day in Boise’s East End

Ready to fall in love with the East End? Let’s spend a perfect day together in this vibrant, walkable, and endlessly charming corner of the city.
Perfectly positioned between the Boise River and the base of the foothills, Boise’s East End is a cherished and beloved part of the city - for good reason! If you’re lucky enough to live in the area, you can likely attest to what makes it so special. But even for those Boise residents and visitors who don’t call the East End home, the neighborhood is a fabulous place to spend a day or a weekend exploring.
Morning: River Sounds & Local Coffee
Start your day with a peaceful walk or bike ride along the Greenbelt. Located on the south side of the neighborhood, this paved path follows the Boise River and offers a front-row seat to the natural beauty of the area. Shaded by mature trees and running from this special part of the valley all the way west to Eagle, there is no limit to how many miles you can walk or ride. Morning is an especially lovely time to explore the Greenbelt and enjoy the sounds of the rushing river.
Cross the iconic red bridge to Zero Six Coffee Fix, a local favorite known for its warm atmosphere and expertly brewed coffee. Sit outside, sip slowly, and enjoy cooler temps before the heat of the day.
Midday: Gardens, Trails & Neighborhood Vibes
Next, immerse yourself in the natural splendor of the Idaho Botanical Gardens. Wander among native plants or attend a community workshop – they offer regularly scheduled community classes covering topics like soil health & gardening, family hiking tips, flower pressing, and more. There's always something blooming at the gardens! In the warmer months, we encourage you to come back in the evening to catch a concert at Outlaw Field—a truly magical outdoor venue nestled at the base of the foothills.
Feeling active? Head up to Table Rock for a hike with panoramic views of the Treasure Valley, or ride the mountain bike trails at Military Reserve. These foothill adventures are just minutes from the walkable streets of the East End.
When it’s time to refuel, grab a bite at the Roosevelt Market, a beloved neighborhood staple. Whether it’s lunch on the patio or a casual happy hour with neighbors, it’s always buzzing with energy & delicious treats. Or try The Grove by Lemon Tree, a fresh, modern eatery tucked right along the edge of the neighborhood.
Afternoon: Play, Swim & Explore
Stroll down Warm Springs Boulevard, where historic estates stand as a testament to Boise’s past. The architecture here is more than impressive… it’s a living storybook of the city’s growth and grace. We love to stroll or bike this boulevard and be inspired by the character, history, and stateliness of the neighborhood.
If you have kids in tow, head to Roosevelt Elementary’s playground for a little fun (pro tip: grab a snack from the market and enjoy from a shaded spot across the street). On a warm day, nothing beats the historic Natatorium, a public pool with diving boards and an epic waterslide. Built in 1892 to showcase the use of geothermal heat, it’s a splash of history with a whole lot of fun.
For the truly adventurous, float the Boise River! Start at nearby Barber Park, rent a raft or tube, and drift through the heart of Boise. After about two hours of sun-soaked floating, your journey ends at Ann Morrison Park. A free shuttle will return you to your car, making it an accessible adventure within the city. Be sure to check the website for updates, details, and current conditions: https://www.floattheboise.org/
Evening: Dine & Unwind
Wrap up your day with dinner at Barbacoa Grill, where bold flavors and curated design create a one-of-a-kind dining experience. For something casual and cozy, Smoky Mountain Pizza delivers family-friendly comfort food and cold local brews.
Want one last swing before sunset? Play 9 holes at Warm Springs Golf Course, then relax on the new Golf Grill patio—coming soon! This upcoming community space promises great food, drinks, and a front-row seat to the greens, just steps from the Greenbelt. The project is nearly complete and promises to be a local favorite with an incredible outdoor patio & vibes!
