Local Wineries to Visit This Spring

The Treasure Valley is home to a vibrant and flourishing wine scene, with more urban tasting rooms opening within the city limits and many sprawling hillside wineries offering tours and tastings year round. Take a day (or two) this spring to enjoy the season’s warming temperatures and abundant sunshine while experiencing the region’s best wines! Book a private tour with reserved tastings, sip exclusive wines while learning about the wine-making process and soaking up farmstead views of blooming vines. Or ride your bike along the greenbelt and stop at some of the city’s most popular urban tasting rooms. (See why we mentioned this might take more than just one day?!?)
Named as Northwest Idaho’s winery of the year in 2023, Huston Vineyards is a family-owned winery renowned for its handcrafted Mediterranean varietals. Visitors can enjoy tastings of their award-winning wines in a picturesque setting. The winery also hosts unique events like World Malbec Day and farm-to-table dinners, enhancing the overall experience.
Established in 2009, Fujishin Family Cellars is dedicated to showcasing the diverse terroir of the Snake River Valley. The winery emphasizes lesser-known grape varieties and unique vineyard sites, producing wines that reflect the region's potential. Their portfolio includes a range of varietals, with a focus on quality and expression of place.
Founded in 1975, Ste. Chapelle Winery is the oldest and largest winery in Idaho. Set atop Winery Hill, it offers stunning panoramic views of the Snake River Valley. The winery is renowned for its expansive selection of wines, including Riesling, Chardonnay, and Merlot, produced in a state-of-the-art facility. Its historic Chateau Tasting Room provides a charming setting for visitors.
Located in the heart of the Sunny Slope Wine District, Koenig Vineyards is known for its bold red wines. The estate vineyard, with its south-facing slope, is ideal for slow, consistent grape ripening. Specialties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Nebbiolo, crafted from meticulously managed vineyards that emphasize quality and terroir expression.
Established in 1987, Sawtooth Winery is a significant player in the Snake River Valley's wine industry. The winery operates two vineyards—Sawtooth and Skyline—spanning over 470 acres. It is known for producing a variety of wines, including Riesling, Syrah, and Tempranillo, with an emphasis on quality and consistency.

SCORIA Vineyards offers a unique wine-tasting experience that blends modern elegance with geological intrigue. The winery's name, "Scoria," is derived from the volcanic rock beneath its estate, a nod to the ancient volcanic vent that shapes the terroir of their wines. This distinctive soil composition contributes to the bold character of their estate-grown varietals.
The vineyard tasting room is located in Caldwell, offering local charcuterie boards and scenic views of the Owyhee Mountains. Or, visit the downtown tasting room - a sleek, minimalist setting where guests can enjoy seated tastings of their estate wines.
