First Thursday in Boise
On the first Thursday of every month, downtown Boise comes alive with a celebration of local businesses. First Thursday beckons locals, visitors, friends, and families to gather downtown and join in the festivities. Businesses offer a medley of different specials, entertainment, and events, from live music to $5 craft beer flights. Support your local businesses and come enjoy everything Boise has to offer on the next First Thursday, which will be May 2nd! We recommend wandering around downtown and stopping by places that draw your interest. A sample of some of the events and entertainment that are planned are listed below, and for a full list look here.
Radio Boise is having an "Open Station" in the basement of the Alaska Center on Main St. between 10th and 11th St. They will give guided tours, have live DJs Wendy Fox and Jason D on the air, share snacks, and generally chat about the station and community radio from 5 pm-8 pm.
$5 Craft Beer Flights at Voodoo Cellar
This eerie, New Orleans-themed underground pub in downtown Boise offers $5 Craft Beer Flights every First Thursday. Voodoo Cellar also offers retro video games, beer pong, and a jukebox to keep you entertained all night.
Jazz Night at the Funky Taco
On First Thursday, The Funky Taco will have a jazz night featuring the Dean Jennings Jazz Quintet for the first set and local jazz artists for the second set, closing the night with a jam session featuring established, up-and-coming, and future jazz musicians. This local restaurant offers tacos with a unique emphasis on Asian, Indian, Mexican, and Americana ethnicities and styles of food.
Live Music at The Warehouse Food Hall
Whether you're into tunes, flavors, or just good times, the Warehouse Food Hall’s live music Thursdays have something for everyone. With plenty of diverse food options and crafted drinks, this is a great spot to hang out and let the music elevate your evening.
After-Hours at The Discovery Center
The Discovery Center of Idaho will be offering exclusive after-hours access to their newest exhibition, Mummies of the World: The Exhibition, between 4:30pm - 7:30pm on May 2nd. Featuring one of the largest collections of real mummies and related artifacts ever assembled, Mummies of the World presents a one-of-a-kind collection of naturally and intentionally preserved human and animal mummies. This compelling exhibition is perfect for the whole family and includes ancient mummies from South America, Europe, and ancient Egypt, some dating back thousands of years. Purchase your tickets in advance here.
