Your late-summer guide to bikes, bites, and Boise beauty

As August rolls in, there’s a certain urgency to summer—the feeling that it’s time to squeeze out every last golden drop before fall settles in. Luckily, Boise makes it easy. If you’re not quite up for floating the river (or maybe you’ve already done it three times this season), the Boise Greenbelt offers an incredible alternative: miles of paved, shaded pathways perfect for biking, strolling, or people-watching your way through the city’s most beautiful backyard.

You can rent a bike or bring your own and spend the day winding along the river, hopping from park to patio, coffee shop to wine bar. Start at the East End of Boise and work your way west all the way to Eagle, soaking in the scenery and stopping wherever your appetite or curiosity takes you.

Keep reading to explore our picks for places to stop along the way, and make a full day out of your greenbelt adventure:

Morning Fuel

Start with breakfast and a jolt of caffeine at Push & Pour—great coffee, delicious bites, and a laid-back vibe that feels very Boise. Prefer a classic brunch? Rembrandt's in Eagle is a local go-to for a hearty breakfast in a beautifully restored church setting.

Midday Ride & Riverside Stops

The Greenbelt winds past some of the valley’s best parks—like Julia Davis, Ann Morrison, Esther Simplot, and the shady greens near Warm Springs Golf Course. Stop for a quick splash pad moment, playground break with the kids, or just a cool breather under the trees.

If you’re looking to refuel:

  1. Rosa has crave-worthy tacos and margaritas.

  2. Ling & Louie’s offers riverfront dining with a fantastic patio.

  3. Sandbar is the spot for a party vibe and live music, with casual fare and cold drinks.

  4. Just off the path, the new Bardenay location offers upscale lunch and dinner, with a cozy setting perfect for lingering.

Wine, Vibes & Views

One of our favorite destinations is Telaya Wine Co. in Garden City. Their newly expanded patio more than doubled the seating, and it’s truly one of the most scenic, welcoming places to gather. Whether you’re sipping a glass of local Syrah or catching one of their Supper Club dinners, live music nights (Rhythm on the River), or Paella evenings, it’s always a vibe. Food trucks often pop in, too.

Nearby, Dude DeWalt Cellars is setting up a new riverside outpost near the Greenbelt surf wave, where the old market used to be. Expect wine, views, and one of the most buzzed-about new spots in town.

And don’t miss The Boardwalk—a new luxury apartment development with ground-level retail and restaurants. You’ll find:

  1. Tim’s Burgers and Chicken in a Barrel (an original concept from Hawaii with over 150 five-star reviews!)

  2. Live music every Saturday and First Thursday

  3. Beachy sand areas, splashy water features, firepits and ample outdoor patio seating

  4. An ice cream and coffee shop, plus a wine room with a "to-go wine window"—because, why not?

If you make it all the way to Eagle, reward yourself with a visit to the original Bardenay, Pig Latin, or a return to Rembrandts for an early dinner. Downtown Eagle is full of fun little shops and spots for a final sip before heading home.
